Property News in Mar 2017

In Mar, the government has relaxed some cooling measures. The government has reduced the stamp duties that sellers need to pay for residential properties and slightly relaxed rules on loan thresholds. Braddell View goes private, marks the end of the government’s privatisation programme for HUDC estates. URA has put up a residential site at Tampines Ave 10 for sale. The 2.17 ha site is located between The Alps Residences and The Santorini.

On Mar 24, Mr Lawrence Wong caused a stir when he said that HDB will have $0 when the 99 year lease expires.

“So please do not assume that all old HDB flats will be automatically eligible for SERS.”

“SERS, as the name implies, is on a selective basis. It is only offered to HDB blocks located in sites with high redevelopment potential. These are typically sites where the land has not been well utilised. It is also subject to the availability of suitable replacement sites for residents and the Government’s financial resources,”
