I had a chance to tour the much talk about Forest City in Iskandar this week with my OT&T colleagues. Firstly, I’m very impressed with the progress and the scale of the project. This is really a mega project!
Forest City is sitting on reclaimed land. When fully reclaimed, the size of Forest City is 14 square kilometer (1,400 ha). To put things in perspective, 14 square kilometer is 3 times the size of Sentosa Island. It is located near Tuas Second Link. One can see Tuas Second Link and Tuas Industrial Area from Forest City. Forest City consists of 4 man-made islands and it takes 20 to 30 years to develop.
During the tour, Forest City gave me the feel that I am in Sentosa Singapore. The only difference is Forest City is much bigger in size. Though I am familiar with Johor Bahru, Forest City is a totally new world. Eventhough the project is still under construction, one can feel and enjoy the mega malls, modern hotels and modern connectivity all in the tropical beach paradise. Forest City also can tap on to the proximity to Singapore and yet the real estate price is just a fraction that of Singapore.
